Secunia's PSI is detecting v4 as end-of-life. And it says:

"This program was detected as being End-of-Life, which means that the vendor no longer supports this program. It is strongly recommended that you upgrade to a newer version of this program or uninstall it from your PC."

While I realize that version 5 is out, and I even used it for a few weeks before I gave up due to the USB issues, I thought that version 4 was still being supported if not no longer in active development. I checked ESET web site and only see mention of dropping support for 2.7x, nothing for 3 or 4. Can someone verify the support status for legacy products?

    Thanks

I run EAV v4 and am not aware of end of support anytime soon.

Support for version 2.7 is being phased out as the article indicates.

Direct downloads my be obtained here

The servers are slow but they do function correctly.

If the system updates feature is conflicting with Windows Update, you may want to consider disabling this feature. I do not use this feature.

    Hello,

I am checking with Secunia on this. In the meantime, could you please provide me with the following information?

    • version of Microsoft Windows
    • version of Secunia PSI
    • version of ESET NOD32 Antivirus

That will be helpful in reproducing this issue.

    Regards,

    Aryeh Goretsky

    Windows XP Home SP3.
    Secunia PSI 2.0
    NOD 32 4.2.71.2

Another Secunia user pointed out in this thread http://secunia.com/community/forum/thread/show/11747/eset_nod32_end_of_life that the business version is being detected as end-of-life when it hasn't even been released as 5x yet. My point is that neither the home nor the business versions of EAV 4x should be detected as end-of-life by Secunia PSI.

    Hello,

If anyone is still experiencing their issue, can they update their Secunia software, rescan the system, and let us know the results? Thank you.

    Regards,

Secunia is now reporting 4.2.71.2 as "Patched" and no longer "End-of-life." Thanks for looking into it, Agoretsky.

I don't think ESET is going to stop supporting v4 for a long while yet. But will v4 see any more module updates or is it just definitions from here on out?

Only development of v4 will be stopped. Since v3/v4/v5 use the same modules, they will be updated for older versions, too.
