My new computer has only USB ports. I am trying to get my LS120 external parallel port drive to work with the new computer so that I may retrieve my saved data from the old machine. I have downloaded an up-to-date driver and purchased a USB to Parallel port cable but the 'new hardware' is not recognised. Any suggestions please.

Maybe you can boot from a linux livecd and see if it recognizes the drive.
Or install Windows 98 on a second partition and see if it recognizes the drive.

Windows XP doesn't seem to support this LS120. :thumbd:

Imations give instructions for installing in Windows XP but do not seem to apply to my computer. e.g they say change the BIOS setting for parallel ports to EPP. My BIOS does not show any ports, parallel or serial. Maybe because I only have USB ports? However, I am able to use a printer with a parallel connection via a USB to Parallel converter cable.

So, when you connect the USB/parallel cable, Windows doesn't see the new hardware?
Does the USB cable information say anything about supporting EPP?
