I tried to find it. No luck. I guess it's either gone or they need a new web designer if this one left the forum off by accident. Whoops!
but if it now uses the Avira engine, why is it bad? I know it was weak on malware detection in the past but how about now with the Avira engine?
just noticed your signature saying Chomar so I googled it, looks interesting. What AV engine does it use, is it light on the machine?
Turkish antivirus company. antivirus engine and signatures are their own. They don't use a 3rd party antivirus engine. a lightweight antivirus. vb100 : https://www.virusbulletin.com/vb100/testing/chomar opswat : https://www.opswat.com/partners/chomar
Most antiviruses using Avira signatures don't do as well at detecting malware as Avira itself does. It possibly doesn't have access to Avira's cloud protection. https://www.avira.com/en/avira-protection-cloud As for Chomar, it's not a product I recommend. It's detection rate is not terrible, but there are much better antiviruses, even for free. While it has done well in testing at Virus Bulletin, it's very easy to get a VB100 award. It has not been tested by AV Comparatives or AV Test. You can see screenshots in my post at MalwareTips. https://malwaretips.com/threads/turkeys-native-antivirus-announced-chomar.68699/post-600480
the program is improving itself. I support it because it is the antivirus of my country. you did the test in 2017. Can you check it out again?
I bought another license and tried it again, since it's a year since my old license expired. Visually it is the same as it was when I first tested it, with no new features and I don't think there has been much improvement really. It is extremely light though.
When tested with a context menu scan of some old malware samples, it has a slightly better detection rate than the last time I used it. However I don't have recent malware samples to test it with. Anyway, this is a thread about SUPERAntiSpyware, so I think we should stop talking about another product here.
@osmandemi -- I suggest you start a thread on Chomar here at Wilders. I ALWAYS like to hear of new AV (antivirus apps) & so, I think, do many others. By the way, do they offer a free trial?
