Hi, folks: Yes, this writer for SAS's review is currently under baking heat after publishing his review of ComodoBoClean. He is trying to keep his belly from being turned up.

I know that - as I said, "For What It's Worth".
I'm well aware of the "tester" who's in hot water, so I did some Googling and thought the forum may be interested, nothing more.
    Don't shoot the messenger :)

I know but casual readers of the thread will click on that link and unknowingly assume that SAS is a bunk product. Sometimes we forget we are a bit too knowledgeable on these subjects. :thumb:

I pretty much passed on any other AS's exclusively, but this one will remain! It's a bedrock of Anti-Spyware Apps with a fantastic support rep who watches over his prize with great jealousy, and who wouldn't? :)

Should I uninstall the old version first and then install the new one?

Download latest version and install. SAS will see your previous one and recommand to uninstall that one. Follow the popups. Have your license key ready.

    Hello!

I have done autoupdate but it only updates definitions. I am just wondering is the new version available to autoupdate already?

Easter...I would appreciate it if you could elaborate on why you like SAS so much. I bought SAS pro because I wanted to support the developers cause. I had heard great things about tha product in this forum, like that it plays nice with other applications, doesn't bog down the computer and Nick's customer support is world class. I also like to root for the little guy and the product is moderately priced. So for the kind of service Nick provides, I felt it was worth it to support his cause. That's why I purchased. But I didn't feel that my money was buying me much more than is available from the free version. Really, I kind of feel that the extras provided by the pro version are minimal.

And thus far I have read 2 less than stellar reviews on the product (Neil Rubenking and Ian Gizmo Richards, the only 2 published reviews on the product I can find). I do put some stock in reviews like these, but I put just as much stock in the advice I get in here from the experts. So why is it that you like SAS so much? What does it offer that others don't? What does it excel at that make it a staple on your PC?

I am not a software or malware expert, so I really can't "evaluate" products very well. So I would appreciate your input as to the specifics that SAS offers that make you keep it on your PC and reccomend it to others.

I am writing up some official responses to these reviews - SUPERAntiSpyware performs great at detecting and removing malware - we don't just throw in a bunch of "bells and whistles" to try and pass theoritcal tests. As you notice on the Gizmo review, he didn't even test against actual malware - how can that even be a test? The PC Mag Review tested us against AntiSpyware + AntiVirus suites - again is that really a test of an anti-spyware product? Again the reviewer would not disclose his samples - makes one wonder what actually was being tested against?

You did make an interesting point about not being an expect at software or malware - when you read these reviews, do you (a user) analyze/verify the credentials of the reviewers, or just assume they are knowledable?

Agreed.Gismo's test was not the right one for an AS app.
