CounterSpy Antispyware Software is 5-star antispyware protection. It is a powerful anti-spyware tool that detects, deletes and protects your personal computer from a broad range of malicious software. CounterSpy has Active Protection, the best spyware database in the industry and the fastest scan times. CounterSpy also has sophisticated protection against recurring spyware threats. Think of it as a "spy-wall" that protects you in real-time against cyber-criminals!

Remove spyware and protect your computer from pop-up ads, browser redirects (hijack), lagging performance and other malicious threats. Counterspy's Active Protection system employs dozens of online 'guards' who continually monitor your PC for suspicious software attempting to install. CounterSpy is antispyware that gets its updated spyware definitions from three sources, including our own research team, Microsoft's own spyware research group, and directly from users, like you.

So, is CounterSpy meant to run as a stand alone program or as a companion to another suite?

    Thanks,

Is a full AV, so you have to run it stand alone.

Some antimalware software that can run along side almost any av:
    Prevx
    Immunet
    Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
    Superantispyware

Actually CountySpy is the companion from Sunbelt and can run along side other products as far as I am aware.

No Problem here along with Ikarus Virus.Utilities on W7 x64, just disable "check files when they are opened or copied" in the Active protection module settings.

CounterSpy is the Anti-Spyware product of Sunbelt. It is not a full AV, and yes, it is meant to be run alongside any AV. It's included as the AS module of VIPRE which is Sunbelt's full-blown Anti-Malware (AV/AS/AR/etc) product.

Just installed this for the first time since the beta for v4. Seems stable just like the beta. Anyone else using this?

Yep, i use it on W7 x64, along with comodo firewall and ikarus virus utilities, and it's very stable and fast.

Just noticed the delayed start of real-time shield, for no conflicts with other security startup.

    Good software.

Yep I noticed a slight boot delay too but I don't really care because I leave my PC on all day and when I turn them on each morning I leave them too boot.

I have experienced no conflicts either but to be on the safe side I white listed Panda and CounterSpy from each other to be safe. If it works well for a week on my machine I am going to add it too each of my personal machines I have.

Any detection rates on this? I know CS used to be top of the line before MBAM and SAS took over.

Don't found any reviews of V4, but we can say CS4 is a part of Vipre, so it may have a good detection rates (large threat database).

Also, if you use it in real-time, beside MBAM on-demand, i think you catch in practice lot of threats.

Yeah I have been searching the net for reviews, seems most review sites only review full av products like Vipre but not Anti-Spyware/Malware products like CounterSpy.

It should have detections rate up with MBAM due to the fact they really have a very talented malware research team behind them. Besides CounterSpy never really fell while SAS/MBAM came up people just like free so CounterSpy was not talked about as much.

:thumb: totally agree with you, and remember the previous version of Counter spy are a little bit heavy on resource.
