I currently have Sygate Professional as my firewall but recently downloaded the free Comodo firewall. I am satisfied with Sygate but concerned with they’re being no support or upgrades. Thinking maybe that I would be better off with Comodo. Would appreciate opinions and suggestions as to which one to use.

I am not a firewall expert at all and also think that the Comodo FW is great. But if what you have works well, why change?

Do you feel that the Sygate FW in some way is not protecting you or leaving you vulnerable?

    Hello,

If you are satisfied with Sygate, no reason to change.

Sygate is the best Windows firewall ever made and shall go into annals as such.
It is light, fast, robust, stable, and simply great and does its job. It may not be the newest or shiniest firewall, but Internet packets are still the same as they have been 10 years ago.

On your site, http://www.dedoimedo.com, you have a link to Sygate Personal Firewall 5.6.

So, THAT version? Any links about good setup ideas/tweaks/problems ?

How do you test a firewall?
I'll tell you. You CTRL + A the entire Internet and let it download for two weeks.

    Now, flinch, any special tweaks?

Well, some people complain about Sygate default server rights for apps, but this is nothing special really. Otherwise ... you can try Jarmo's guide, he has it in his sig. We can also talk via PM...

I never had any probs with this lovely little tool.

If it was my choice,I'd switch to Comodo.
