STOPzilla released version 8.0 of their Antivirus in January. Has anyone tried it?

They use someone else's AV engine - BitDefender likely.

I didn't know a new version had been released, I'm going to try it now.
The last time I used it, it was using Vipre's scan engine. I'm about to find out what engine this new version is using.

I just installed it. It is using Bitdefender signatures, and the signatures are only one hour older than the signatures on Bitdefender's website, which is good.

Threats are automatically quarantined, and there's no way to change this. However, files are whitelisted if you restore them from quarantine.

A one year subscription is $39.95 for 1 PC. At that price, there are better options, in my opinion, as there seems to be nothing remarkable about this.

I thought stopzilla was a rogue antivirus / antispyware in the good old days? or am I saying something stupid here?

I get no such popup from Adguard, with the default filters. Personally, I wouldn't take too much notice of WOT ratings.

fair enough @roger_m , personally I would not have a product on my system that has a shady past. once a rep whas bad it will always stay tainted imho.

Since this is using Bitdefender signatures, I have no reason at all to believe there anything untrustworthy about it. But, as I already posted, there are better options. I only installed it very briefly to test it.

I think they use a copy of bitdefender trafficlight extension as-well for chrome. Search for trafficlight on chrome and you see both.
