    Hey guys,

Simple question. How do you stop Prevx from starting up with Windows?

When I go into my start up manager program, there is no entry for Prevx.

It definitely starts with Windows though, and I would like to stop it from doing so.

I am having issues with the latest version of Avast and it could be related to Prevx.

I was hoping to just stop Prevx from loading with Windows as opposed to uninstalling Prevx.

I can't understand why any programs that load at start up, wouldn't show up in a start up manager program.

    Thanks

That's because it starts as 'service'. - If you use for example
AutoRuns from Sysinternals (MS) you find the service 'csiscanner'.
Services can be stopped of course but I don't know if this is
such a good idea or working as you are imagining.

Instead you could 'remove protection' via 'Stop Protection' and try that.

    guest,

Thanks. Learn something new all the time on this board.

You're right it does start as a service.

I'll probably just uninstall it to see if that is the problem with Avast.

    Thanks again.

No need to uninstall Prevx. Just change the startup type of the CSIScanner service from Automatic to Manual and you can start and stop Prevx manually while you are investigating. When you have finished investigating, if you want to keep Prevx you can change the startup type back to Automatic again.
