    Hello Everyone,

In the current issue of the UK Computer Active magazine (Issue 694 page 8, there is an article stating that "More than two million VPN Passwords have been stolen in the past year", including over 1.3 million from Proton VPN.

The analysis was conducted by Swedish security firm Specops.

Would anyone care to shed any light on this alarming figure?

Never used one of VPN's list, always IVPN with 2FA (managed locally by KeepassXC)

I can't believe that some people use "easy password" just for recall.
Minimum entropy start at ~100 bits for a correct security password.
Password generator are useful and with a manager like keepass, keepassxc, bitwarden......... you 're done!!

How do they know these passwords were used for a VPN service?

And how do they know which service?

I see no problem here, VPN has no logs, so if a hacker logs in, he can use VPN and that is it. He can not spy on your connection with it or whatever. It is yet another scareware. If you use it for another Proton services, that is another issue.
