Something rather unusual, but you may like it:

Stellarium is a beautiful 3D planetarium software, available on major operating systems:

Marble is a beautiful, powerful geographical map software that runs without 3D acceleration, available on Windows, Mac, and Linux, including a live CD distro:

    Have fun!

Thanks to Searching_ _ _ and PROROOTECT for discovering the software for me.

    Regards,
    Mrk

I use Stellarium, After setting my location I find it the perfect solution for finding, identifying objects in the sky.

Marble sounds exciting, I am going to have to download and give it a try.

I'd forgotten about Stellarium, Thanx for the reminder, and the tutorial. I used it a few years ago and thought it was very good. Didn't know about Marble, a nice find.
