I've never much liked the Windows taskbar and I'm happy with Nexus Winstep Dock. Integrated with Classic Shell.
Its free. You can drag and drop apps onto the dock and you can remove them. You also have a systray but the default clock module isn't very legible. I run the DesktopDigitalClock gadget on top of it. Better than RocketDock because it has a Start Menu module that integrates with the default Windows start menu or Classic Shell. To avoid a cluttered dock, I've installed PaperPlane to put overflow programs into a hidden desktop launcher.
Seriously? That's why I have always preferred Windows over the macOS, because I actually hate the dock. If I ever switch to macOS, it's the first thing I will disable.
Can you make it portable like Rocketdock using an .ini file? I have four multi-boot systems and they all use the same portable RocketDock.
its an exe. it installs on your PC. You have the option to check hide the taskbar so its your primary Windows interface.
I dislike the taskbar because its chaotic and you can't set up running programs as you want them. So much easier to work with a dock.
I actually think the taskbar in Windows is vastly superior to Apple's dock. But it's a matter of taste, I have never liked the pinning function, so I always restore the Quick Launch toolbar. I also love the tray-bar.
