My Start up page has been hijacked and every time I fire up IE I get some Home Search webpage. It doesn't take me to an http but to a res: address. Specifically something like this: res://dwlgl.dll/index.html#96676 (although after I delete files with Hijack this the "dwlgl" will change to something else. It has me stumped.

I removed the #96676 files as well as the O2 - BHO: (no name) - {92A72092-878E-DBA3-15F0-ADF6FD6C738B} - C:\WINDOWS\appzc32.dll file. When I reboot and start IE, the BHO no name is a different dll file. What am I missing?

It's annoying the hell out of me and any help I can get to remove this bugger I would really appreciate.

    thanks
    Ab

    Hi Abner,

Bring up TaskManager and end these processes:
    C:\WINDOWS\addqz32.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\d3hm.exe
Check the items listed below in HijackThis, close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = res://C:\WINDOWS\dwlgl.dll/sp.html#96676
    R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = res://dwlgl.dll/index.html#96676
    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = res://dwlgl.dll/index.html#96676
    R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = res://C:\WINDOWS\dwlgl.dll/sp.html#96676
    R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = res://dwlgl.dll/index.html#96676
    R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = res://C:\WINDOWS\dwlgl.dll/sp.html#96676
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {92A72092-878E-DBA3-15F0-ADF6FD6C738B} - C:\WINDOWS\appzc32.dll

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [d3hm.exe] C:\WINDOWS\d3hm.exe

Then reboot into safe mode and delete:
    C:\WINDOWS\d3hm.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\dwlgl.dll

Do me a favour and run HijackThis after doing this and save the log, then reboot, run HijackThis again, make another log and post both the logs here.

    Regards,

    Pieter
