does it check its own crc upon start up?
It doesn't appear to. I use the free version so I can't comment on the pay version. I shut SSM down and replaced the SysSafe.exe executable with one from version 126.96.36.1994. When I restarted SSM, it didn't alert on the change.
Under normal operating conditions, it wouldn't be possible to replace or alter the executable as it would be in use. It would be possible if the hard drive were accessed from outside the operating system, or on the older systems like win98, it could be replaced while running in DOS mode. Either way, they need to address this. Thanks for asking that question.
