When does the windows explorer message appear? Before the SSM prompt appears, during, or after you reply to it?

Can I assume you've already checked the following?
    • The path and its syntax to the updater executable is correct.
    • The updater is an allowed process.
    • The updater isn't blocked by system policy.
    • Firefox is an allowed parent process.
    • Neither process has asked to set a global hook that was denied.

With FF running, can you launch the updater directly via windows explorer? If you disable the application rules via the tray icon, does the updater work normally?

The closest I've seen to what you're getting is this error message, which only appears when I try to launch a command prompt via a start menu shortcut and have the UI disconnected. It uses a "block with disconnected UI" rule. For some reason, windows explorer gets the shortcuts location wrong when the SSM UI is disconnected.
