*puppy* *puppy* Last night i was on the internet looking for
animated flag avatars.....when i was done...I ran an AD-Aware scan,,,,finding 14 critical objects....After that i went to spywareblaster and went to make sure everything was enabled.......to my surprise, there were,
6 items unchecked in,,I.E.......26 items unchecked in,
restricted sites........and almost all the boxes were unchecked in the mozilla\firefox section. i did'nt uncheck
any of those boxes.......does anyone have any suggestions as to how so many boxes became unchecked
without my doing so?? ursus. *puppy*

Setting aside the fact AD-Aware scan most likely did not cause this....would you Please list all Security\Privacy programs you are using. Also....the "6 items unchecked in,,I.E" you mentioned....are those the ActiveX or Cookie protection entries ?

It's not Spybot's Immunize....because if you undid Immunize protection there would be a lot more entries unchecked than what you show. As for Security Center....am I understanding that's a McAfee component ?

Also....when you say "I.E. blocks activeX"....is that in reference to Spywareblaster and the 6 items unchecked in,,I.E are indeed the ActiveX entries :doubt:

Hi, Sorry i took so long in replying...Yes activeX was in reference to spywareblaster.....I was doing the same thing
tonight.....I was looking around for animated avatars, when i
was done i had another 16 critical objects.....I don't know why
i'm getting so many, maybe because of I.E. security problems.
This time, i did not delete any of the objects....I quarentined
all of them, i then checked spywareblasters status, and
everything was O. K....Maybe the difference was in my deleteing the other ones...I don't know. If you would like to see the quarentined list, it is:

This is similar to my experience (see my post) - but using Adware Filter rather than AdAware. It's wierd!

    spywareblaster items disabled

I too update spywareblaster regularly, enable the new protection items, and forget about it. But I noticed the same strange behavior: several activex items (27 of them today) and 66 sites had their protection disabled without my doing anything in the matter. I too use adaware and spybot. My browser is mozilla, although I do occasionally use maxthon (which as I understand it uses ie's engine). I am worried that something may be turning off protection that I assume is in place while I roam about the net. I had not had any issues corrected with either spybot or adaware when this happened. Any ideas?

Sorry for the delay in replying. Adware Filter is alleged to be a spyware detector/remover program which I purchased via the net. I thought it was OK, but posts here have said very differently, as a result of which I have uninstalled the program and written it off. I'm using Spybot S&D, Ad-aware SE plus, MAS beta1 and our local BT Yahoo Anti-Spy - and I don't miss Adware Filter at all.
