    Hi,

I heard from some guy that SpywareBlaster creates a Registry key below and it's invalid.

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\ActiveX Compatibility\{9D77F204-F995-4A8E-8267-E7AD91776568} ]

See the space after "}". Is this really a problem?

    Thanks. :)

I do not believe it creates a bad Reg. Key. It shouldn't be a problem at all, if in fact it IS a problem (but again, doubt it). You can use a program that scans the registry to see if it finds anything that has that name or not.

If you are looking for a Registry cleaner, look in a different forum on this website. I was reading past threads, an d I came across one with an EXCELLENT program that cleans the Registry. being anxious to clean it, i used it and it found at least 800 items. I was a little bit cautious in deleting 800+ items, but My computer has been running fine recently.

    Thanks for your reply, Under0ath.

I looked into my PC and found this key:

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\ActiveX Compatibility\{9D77F204-F995-4A8E-8267-E7AD91776568} ]
    "Compatibility Flags"=dword:00000400

Then I ran SpywareBlaster, removed IE protection and the killbit of the above key disappeared.

You can find an item "{9D77F204-F995-4A8E-8267-E7AD91776568} " (notice the space after "}") in IE protection area of SWB using "Find" feature.

Conclusion: SWB creates one Registry key with a space at the end.

Question: Is protection against this CLSID (*) still working?

Sorry, I am a bit confused about your question:

Are you asking if you are protected against the Registry Key?

Looks to me like you are NOT protected.

I have to go see if I have that invalid key.

    Edit: That key looks normal to me. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\ActiveX Compatibility\{9D77F204-F995-4A8E-8267-E7AD91776568}

I don't see an extra space at the end. How would you know if there was one anyhow?

If you exported that key only and opened the resulting reg file with notepad....you can see the space Windows regedit displays.

    Code:
    ActiveX Compatibility\{9D77F204-F995-4A8E-8267-E7AD91776568} ]

Thank you for the report - this was fixed in the update released today. :)

That key did absolutely no harm being there - but it also probably didn't do any good.

    Best regards,

There's an update today? I can't get it. I'm having the same problem I had earlier. It would say I was updated but I wasn't. I uninstalled and reinstalled yesterday the original 3.2 version from June. It was able then to retrieve one update of, I believe, 23 items (not many for six months). Now, it is acting up again and says it has updated but it hasn't.

    Hi,

EDIT: Nevermind - saw your post in the other thread that it updated after another try. Good to hear. :)

    Thanks,
