spywareblaster lists like 10,000 items. spybot list like 35,000.

IN general they block different things although there is some overlap it is not incompatible
Spywareblaster is noted for blocking malicious active X entries (and other things)
a must if you have internet explore installed even if it is not your primary browser as malicious sites may load I.E. for you and it is required for some software like MS update

SpywareBlaster and Spybot S & D count the number of items differently.

SpywareBlaster counts the number of items in its protection databases. If I'm not mistaken, I believe that Spybot S & D counts what is essentially the number of protection entries it can write to a system - i.e. what is roughly (the number of items in the Spybot S & D protection databases) X (the number of user accounts, Firefox profiles, registry hives, etc.).

So the method SpywareBlaster uses may provide a lower count on the screen, but it will stay consistent between systems. A number of things could change between systems that could provide a lower/higher number for the Spybot S & D count, since it takes things like the number of user accounts, browsers, browser profiles, etc. into account.

Basically, as is often the case when evaluating the "counts" in different programs with different philosophies for generating the numbers, the numbers themselves aren't directly comparable. :)

    Best regards,
