I remember when SpywareBlaster came out, it seemed like a decent app at the time, but now is it still any good, or was it really ever good at what it is suppose to do?

    Any other alternatives like it?

    THANKS

Its a good program that gets updated every few weeks. Right now there is a pretty good amount of malware and sites it blocks. I'd keep it in my arsenal.

It hardens your system. It plugs possible security holes in your system or web browser. If you use IE then you might want to give it a try. It works with Firefox as well, but Firefox of course does not have nearly as many holes to plug. It also blocks bad sites by using your host file. It does not scan for malware. It is for preventative measures. I have been using it for several years, and i like it. Spybot S&D also works on the same principle. You can use S&D's immunize function for this purpose. You don't have to leave either one running to stay protected. Just run them on demand to plug the holes, and check for updates occasionally.

    THANKS

I know all about it, I remember when it seemed to have quite a following when it came out, but I haven't been keeping my eye on it.

I personally have no need for it, I was thinking about putting it on someone's computer to possibly help them is all and was also wondering if someone made anything better then it...

    THANKS

I recommend it and keep it in my arsenal at all times.

I have it installed on every one of my computers. It's a great addition to the rest of my security tools.

It's free, it doesn't run in real time and it helps cut down on malware....can't beat that ;)

Plus, having the support forum right here at Wilders is a plus!

Add me to the list of "fans". While I finally ditched Spyware Guard a few weeks ago, after many years, because it's become somewhat redundant given advances in other anti-malware products, I steadfastly hang on to Spyware Blaster.

Yeah it's worth having, i've put it on lots of peoples PC's.

For those that don't already know it -

Blocks cookies from some bad www's

    Blocks some bad www's

    Blocks bad ActiveX installs

Plus you can add in your own blocks, and it has some useful tools too.
