I have run a few tests with the new deny and terminate functions and they appear to be working flawlessly here.

Only thing I can say is that the previous version (v4.5 I believe) didnt have a splash screen at startup, but v5 does and there isnt an option to disable it.

I tried upgrading from 4.56 and protection wouldn't enable. There were no errors on install either. No prompts or interference from MSE. o_O

I uninstalled Spyshelter, but chose to leave user settings behind, rebooted, and the new version installed without a hitch. Maybe give that a try.

Where is the download link for v.5.0?
I downloaded both free & Premium from their homepage and got v.4.56.

I used the updater on the program and it said that 4.56 is the current version.

    Thanks.:)

Tried it again but still no v5 protection. 4.56 works fine.

Try getting rid of the left over settings and empty your browser cache. I did that and got the splash screen to disappear at boot, but now I cant check the box for autostart.

The x64 issue with the unchecked autostart box has been fixed as well as the splash screen. An update has been pushed out. According to Spyshelter you can install over the top of the existing install.

So does SS do all and more of what Windows Defender does?

Two totally different applications. Windows Defender is sub par malware detection. Spyshelter is antikeylogger, antiscreen logger, and so much more.

    For a list of features:

Updated to 5.01 and all is well. This is an impressive little program. Seems pretty powerful but simple and light.

So what anti-spy would you recommend? I realize all the anti-viruses are supposed to be anti-spy also but I believe most folks still run both.

I'm using Norton Internet Security 2011 and I wonder if SpyShelter v5 would be useful or just redundant? I believe NIS has anti-logger protection but I don't know how extensive/effective it is. Any thoughts?

I really like SpyShelter (SS) as to its protective abilities. I have a few dislikes, however, as pertains to its updating methods:

1- I use SS on-demand. When installing an update, however, it ignores my current setting & insists on again placing itself into start-up.

2- SS creates a desktop shortcut with every install, as well as again adding itself to the Start menu. These actions should NOT occur when updating an already installed version of SS.

3- I have set SS so that, each time I start it up, it checks to see if there are any updates. When an update IS available, & I tell it to download it, the running version of SS still keeps on monitoring and popping-up alerts. At times, those alerts-during-download cause my computer to lock up. However, if I exit SS when the download notice appears, it not only exits SS but also kills the download as well.

In summary, I get the feeling that SS itself is being programmed by full-on experts, whereas its updating routines are being prepared by novices.

I own the Premium version and I like it a lot. However, at times if I try to highlight with ctrl or shift key to highlight for copying it doesn't allow it. Also, it doesn't allow to paste something in the browser with ctrl and V keys.

I need to send them an email.

Does anyone else has the same problem?
