When you also enable system protection the free version will warn you for

    Driver installs/loads

    Register processes as a service

Change autostart entries in you registry

    Modify processes (including dll injection)

    Physical memory access

On top of its great anti-hook capabilities

will it monitor for driver installation or will stop the services or driver instalation from installing and hurting the system?

i want to be more clear:) for example winpatrol is a system monitor tool and not a security tool as prevention so is this program same as winpatrol or can you really prevent driver from installing with this free version?if it does for free it can stop alot of rootkits in real time:) i hope you got it this time:D

Spyshelter FREE combine it with this top Notch freeware = setup for XP users running Admin (which most do except Lucy and some others).

MBRGuard = add protection to MBR because you run Admin and not Limited User in XP

EdgeGuard Solo = running office and internet facimga aps with limited rights through file access filter (= sort of SRP LUA achieved through sort of ACL).
EdgeGuard solo works with Chrome when you download it from Google Pack.

Comodo Memory Firewall = use DEP on all programs and let CMF protect you against retun common library intrusions = solid Buffer Overflow protection

All very light on CPU and Harddisk

I cant understand what is so good in Spyshelter... We have always had Comodo Defense+, free, 32 and 64 bits, and much much better, or OSSS.
And now, Comodo with the sandbox is more quiet than SS.

SS free or pro are not HIPS, they are antykeyloguers with some HIPS capabilities, SS is quite far to be an HIPS, like Zemana.

I wasn't too fond of the many pop-ups from SpyShelter free. Seems like a lot of them were Windows services and I know for sure I clicked on something that was suppose to trust them. So a newbie or a seasoned one would be scratching their heads if there poor helpless computer came to a screeching halt all of a sudden! :D I had a blue screen of death so I know either OA or/and Panda Cloud antivirus didn't like SpyShelter.

I have Online Armor Premium and it supposedly protects from most of those activities that even SpyShelter pro version offers. I really don't have the time and the nerves to test all that stuff by myself. :D

It's good that they decided to bring out a free version so other users can test, complain or congratulate them for a nice gesture.

is checking for updates, manual or automatic?
Can I configure the system protection (HIPS) module of Spyshelter to only protect the browser and not the rest of the system?

    Konata,

Add to protection FLASH, PDF, JAVA directory, your web browser(s) and e-mail programs, exclude the rest See PIC

System impact is minimal (CPU and I/O) so great add-on for people using the power of the OS as protection

    Thanks Kees and Morro.
I'll be using SpyShelter on top of SafeOnline.

    EDIT:
Lol. they're conflicting... I guess I'll keep SafeOnline.

SpyShelter won't install on my 16-bit Win 95 PC. But neither will malware.

    Dave

P.S. And the could have made money off us by supporting very old OS's.

@jmonge Did you ever ask MS to send you the 16-bit Win 96? THAT WAS FUNNY. You could schedule your own crashes. No time to get malware -- always too busy reloading 96!
