Just only to inform you that SpyReveal (formerly SpyCop) is giving several FP's on Microsoft files Magnify:

    Spy Programs Found:
Spy Voice Recorder by Keylogger Spy Monitor Inc
Spy Voice Recorder by Keylogger Spy Monitor Inc
Spy Voice Recorder by Keylogger Spy Monitor Inc
Spy Voice Recorder by Keylogger Spy Monitor Inc
Spy Voice Recorder by Keylogger Spy Monitor Inc

    Suspect Files:
    C:\WINDOWS\$NtServicePackUninstall$\magnify.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386\magnify.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\magnify.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\mag_hook.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\dllcache\mag_hook.dll

The SpyReveal company has been notified about it and knows about it.
It will be fixed, as I have been told.

    PS-1
Sorry mods, I don't know whether this belongs here in "Privacy Software" or in "Other Anti-Malware Software".

    PS-2
    Yes, I have kept SpyReveal ...... o_O

Does this program have almost all commercial loggers (key, screen, etc) blacklisted? Would those who have used a paid version recommend this. Thanks.

    Hi,

SpyReveal is only an on-demand scanner, so it's re-active and not pro-active.
(I'm not sure whether that answers your question; maybe I mis-understood you).

    Hi FanJ,

What I meant was, does this product detect the vast majority of commercial keyloggers (and other loggers) out there? i.e. How good is its detection rate? Thanks.

I had the old SpyCop on my PC for a long time and it worked just fine, however on my newly installed XP system it freezes every time and I have to restart the computer.

Could it be a conflict with DefenseWall or Online Armor (I didn't have these two on my old system)?

SpyReveal and SpyCop both claim to detect commercial keyloggers. But this thing that happened with them splitting into two separate companies is pretty weird. Right about the time that they changed I did a search for SpyCop. I ended up at a website that said "SpyCop is now Spyreveal". They split over an ethics dispute or something. But SpyCop is still a company and did not become SpyReveal. So WTF? I don't feel comfortable with either of them now. Something's not right.

First my apologies for replying late.

    Hi Dregg Heda,
The old SpyCop, now SpyReveal, was/is supposed to do that.
I'm trying to choose my words carefully....
I have not tested it on the "vast majority" of commercial keyloggers, so I am not the person to give the final verdict on that.

    =====

    Hi SafetyFirst,
I don't have DefenseWall nor Online Armor, so I cannot comment on that.
    But:
Have you tried a scan with SpyReveal in Safe Mode?
(and then you could also try this:
in SpyReveal > Scan > Activate Super Stealth Mode).

    =====

    Hi caspian,
I know. We had two threads about it here some months ago when that happened.
What exactly happened, I don't know. I don't want to get involved in that discussion anymore.
