I scanned today after a bunch of updates, and spybot found "windows security center antivirus disable notify".

I have searched this on the web, and it appears to be a false alarm.

However, Windows security IS monitoring my newly-installed antivirus (NOD32), but the box isn't checked which instructs Windows Security to alert me.
I believe it WAS checked prior to downloading the trial of NOD32 a few days ago, as it would occasionally alert for a few seconds while booting (Norton took a while to load).

So, it appears that the alert was originally enabled.
Then, I ripped Norton out of my system, and started using NOD32. Possibly NOD32 disabled the alert (?).
The Spybot scan was it's first since the new antivirus, so it detected the change. (Adaware found nothing).

    Is this likely what happened?

Spybot just noticed that auto.updates were disabled. Which you confirmed.
Whether NOD does that, i don't know, but i don't see why it would.
Do you use Hardening tools, or something of the sort?

Basically these disable things in Windows, to reduce vulnerabilities, mainly, if not entirely, services (like Windows updates, for some reason..).

If you don't know what they are, you probably don't have one. Stay away from them too, unless you know what you're doing.
