Spy Sweeper + 3 user AV free AR at Buy.com

Buy.com has Spy Sweeper for free after $40 in rebates through 8/20/07.
When these programs are offered for free AR, it usually means a new version is coming out, and the expiration dates usually are extended (with new rebate pdf files available).

What puzzles me is the description on the competitive upgrade rebate found here:

Software rarely includes manuals anymore, and do they really expect anyone to send a copy of the original CD!? What happened to a copy of the sales receipt as proof of purchase?

I like buying the good payware when it's free after rebate, since it just leads to getting more pay programs free after competitive rebates. However, this Webroot proof of purchase seems ridiculous. I could always make a copy of the disk and send the original, but why go to the trouble of finding the right mailler just to send back what should be a few pieces of paper?
