Yes it's important, but it's even more important to give a bit more information about how malware is tested and what type of malware was tested and which samples those tested AV's failed to protect against. I believe MRG Effitas does this the best and SE Labs also gives a lot of info. I'm not exactly impressed with AV Comparatives and AV-TEST when it comes to this.

It requires a lot of blind faith (confidence) in the methodology when all the information is not disclosed. That is often the weak point of much of the testing that is done.
