aka "Windows 10 Firewall Contol" Quite informative review by Noel Carboni who uses the top of the line version https://www.askwoody.com/2016/sphinx-windows-firewall-control/ Differences between free and paid versions - don't know if this description is up to date http://sphinx-soft.com/Vista/ The name continues to be stuck on Vista, but it's designed for Windows 10/8/7/2008/2012.
when I used in past some years back I found it over complicated. Sadly a lot of security apps are way over engineered. This leads to bugs and performance issues as well as operator error.
hi may i ask a question about it but no the free version? when i run an application like firefox , can i create a specific rule like Windows Firewall Control or eset smart security firewall? can't find any screenshot or video about it the screenshots in the homepage doesn't show if i can tweak when i start an application like ip range , ports , inbound or outgoing and so on i found only a video on youtube that doesn't help thanks
Plus version, typical rule editing dialog and typical popup of testing that a link in excel will be denied because "explorer zone" has rules only for LAN things and no internet allowed.
i dont like the new UI with the sideline categories. nevertheless v8 is mandatory since dec'16 because v7 is crashing every hour (since startup). this happens on four different systems (w7/w8/w10pro+ltsb) they added a domain filter (vs ads and telemetrie) and some new zones - "telemetrie" is also available for zones. not sure if i persue another lic extension - too many other options possible. but they made it faster react now.
since yesterday i am on v8 now - no crash. the strange for me is that it happen on all systems, not on only one here. i found the culprit in code but it made no sense either. and i happend since late december, not earlier. i think they messed it up with a windows update. now running windows 10 - i made an image and next step is to go back to an earlier image to verify but at least i will upgrade my ltsb to the next level (RS1 = build 14393)
