Spam with Chinese Characters

A large percentage of spam I am getting on G-Mail has Chinese characters. I wonder why. Are others finding the same thing?

I receive hundres and hundreds of these every day in multiple mail boxes. A lot of times they are attempts to bypass spam filters by having non-standard characters. If you look in the email themselves, you would see ads for viagra/cialis, cheap software, stock tips, or mortgage approvals.
They are never the same string of characters either.

I've been noticing that my hotmail account has been receiving chinese spam once in a while.
I just delete them.

 

Me too, I receive lately weird emails with an UNREADABLE or blank subject line and a stupid email-address, I didn't receive before. I just delete them without even opening them.

According my readings at SWI in the past, even opening an email can act as a trigger to do something evil on your computer.

MailWasher Pro has a filter for Chinese email, in case you want to use that filter.

 

Yes and Mailwasher has the advantage that you can see emails BEFORE they are stored on your computer and that is always safer.

 

Thanks, but I have MW Pro, but cannot find a filter for Chinese email. Can you tell me how to find it? I am not receiving such except on my gmail.

Due to very sad family circumstances I don't have much time nor energy, sorry!

I don't know why you don't have that filter in your MailWasher.
Maybe something to ask at their Support?

If the entire header contains RegExpr"Content-type[^\n]*(\n[^\n]*)?charset=(3D)?"?(gb2312|euc-cn|big5)" or  the Body contains RegExpr"Content-type[^\n]*(\n[^\n]*)?charset=(3D)?"?(gb2312|euc-cn|big5)"  then mark the message as mail to be deleted.

Very sorry for the sad circumstances.
I do have filters, but I do not know how to set the filter so that anything with Chinese characters are filtered out.

Hang in there, and hopefully things will get better, with the help of the Lord.
