Sophos Endpoint Security and Control 9.0.0 released

I have posted the 9.0 screenshots in the AV Screenshots thread. The UI for 9.0 did not change much from previous versions 6 and 7. There was no version 8.

Sophos Anti-Virus 9.0 was installed in Vista x64 with SP2. From the screenshots, it can be seen that it was automatically installed in the (x86) program files folder.

Again, there is a standalone installer for the Sophos Anti-Virus (without firewall)

Sophos always is a little unexciting to me as they aren't in the consumer market.

Not in the consumer market...after taking a look at those screenshots I can see why. If I had a GUI like that I would have skipped version 8 too.

Thanks for the info Chubb. If Sophos scan speed has increased, it may become a bit more enticing.

The main thing i've noticed that's different is that now threat notifications are shown via a balloon notification instead of a popup in the bottom right.

Any difference in terms of protection capabilities from version 7?

Their main market is business users...where the IT and security policies are remotely managed by the company IT department, hence there is no need for a fancy GUI on the client....as the person using it will, in most cases, never open the AV anyway.
