Hi all, Recently, i've seen people questioning the legitimacy of 'cheap' Kaspersky licences available from certain websites. In my opinion, MOST of them are legitimate. We must not forget that these licences are targeted at a different market(s) where the income of most users are significantly lower than Western countries. I have been working in Asia for the past couple of years, and have seen many software available at 'ridiculous' prices. Yet, THEY ARE legitimate. For example, in Taiwan, Kaspersky's Antivirus and Internet Security cost $30 and $54 respectively. This may not be a big deal. But the REAL DEAL is that once you have purchased a licence, for example, Antivirus 6.0, you can extend it for 2 years at a cost of $19. So, for a measly $49, you can have a Kaspersky antivirus licence for 3 years. With this licence, you will get free version updates/upgrades (e.g. 7.0 and 8.0). One may question whether these prices are legitimate. But they are! These deals are available from Yahoo Taiwan (yes, directly from Yahoo) and PCHome (one of the largest online vendors of I.T. products in Taiwan). I don't think a company of such stature (e.g. Yahoo) would be selling illegitimate products. I purchased one of these licences sometime ago, and i get support directly from Kaspersky's office in Taiwan (www.kaspersky.com.tw). This is also the case for other brands. For example, you can get a NOD32 3-year licence (plus a 1GB USB pen drive) for around $50. While i was working in China, i have even seen Kaspersky Antivirus 6.0 available for $12 (again, legitimate). When we see these prices, we must not feel hard done by. These prices are set for a reason. They are for a different market. How can we expect people in China paying the same price as we do when their income is only a fraction of ours (for example, i know a lot of my colleagues in China are earning only $250 per month BEFORE tax, and i am talking about decent office jobs, not 'cheap' labour). I don't know if i am allowed to post the web links (for those prices) here. But if anyone is interested in having a look, i can provide it for reference.
