    I want to add/merge the following into the registry, however, I get confused everytime I try.
    The directions are: "copy/past into txtile,save as file.reg and import".

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
    "TFTray"=""C:\\Program Files\\ThreatFire\\TFTray.exe""

    Is it a Key, String Value, Binary Value, DWORD Value, Multi-String Value or Expandable String Value? What is with the all the quotation marks and do I need them? If I go to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run], do I just paste "TFTray..."? I'm not afraid to do this, I've backed the registry up, I just want to do it correctly. Thank You!

    If you are trying to start TF with Windows,wouldnt you be better off just reinstalling TF

    Open notepad and copy/paste the text in the code below into it.
    Make sure the R in REGEDIT4 is at the very start of the file (no spaces or blank lines before it)

    Code:
    REGEDIT4

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
    "TFTray"="%ProgramFiles%\\ThreatFire\\TFTray.exe"

    Now, click File > Save As... > Change the File Type to All Files > Name the file Startup.reg > Save it on your desktop.

    Once you've saved it, please double click it. A window should pop up - Click Yes to merge the information with the registry.

    Thank you, your method worked fine, although it didn't achieve my goal. I don't need TF but installing it has become a challenge. You'll get the idea from the two links. I was thinking adding those reg files would be the solution but not the case!

    Have you done a Google of the error number?

    Seems its associated with the VC runtime libraries and "To solve this issue you need to install the updated VC runtime libraries" from Microsoft .

    That didn't work either. It's just bugged. ZSoft Uninstaller And RegSeeker have been my best friends!

    Very frustrating-looks like another HIPS may be needed!

    The thread from the TF board is pretty old, however if I recall, Comodo is mentioned as the possible culprit because it was after an install of a new version that this started. Previously TF updates worked. Numerous uninstalls of Co and reinstalls didn't work either. I'm using Online Armor Free now. Kind of got tired of how complicated Comodo is. I'm behind a router, surf sandboxed and use NOD32, so I feel really safe, especially since I only go to safe sites. I am a freeware junkie though! Still really just want to install TF because it's become a challenge!
