Some how I can get Ubuntu to go to a different screen.

    I do something and it goes to a different main screen. I get get back to my old one by clicking on my pidgin icon uptop but If I don't have pidgin open I can't. How do I do this and how can I get backo_O

    Looks like you've just discovered the multi-desktop feature.

    If you haven't changed the default panel layout, there should be a desktop selector on the lower-right corner of your screen (click on a desktop to switch to it). Failing that, use Ctrl+Alt+(arrow keys) to switch desktops.
