Wanted to know if you see anything strange in my logfile.
I ran AdAware before running HijackThis.

    Hi jml

    Your log looks GREAT !

    Only some "spring cleaning":

check this one in HJT :

    O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {ACB1E670-3217-45C4-A021-6B829A8A27CB} - (no file)

    check "Fix checked".

    Reboot,

Empty your Temporary Internet Files and history in Internet Options. And clean out your
    %Userprofile%\Local Settings\Temp
folder. It's a good idea to do that regularly.

    Happy Safe Computing !

    Thank you Marianna!

What are all those things in the DPF section? I don't have the google toolbar (or want it) or what is the akamai.net meInstaller?

    Thanks again,
    J-

    Hi jml

    You are welcome :)

ActiveX Objects otherwise known as Downloaded Program Files.

ActiveX objects are programs that are downloaded from web sites and are stored on your computer. These objects are stored in C:\windows\Downloaded Program Files. They are also referenced in the registry by their CLSID which is the long string of numbers between the curly braces. There are many legitimate ActiveX controls such as the one in the example which is an iPix viewer.

By deleting most ActiveX objects from your computer, you will not have a problem as you can download them again. Be aware that there are some company applications that do use ActiveX objects so be careful. You should always delete 016 entries that have words like sex, porn, dialer, free, casino, adult, etc.

    HTH :)
