I've been reading posts from several websites about help with a homepage hijecked by http://any-find.com/index.htm, but wasn't sure just what to delete. In addition to hijacking my homepage, it's added several favorites to my comp and has somehow screwed up my AIM, so AIM won't open anymore. I got hijack this and cwshredder, and this is my hijack this log:

Re: Homepage hijacked by http://any-find.com/index.htm help!!

    any-find.com is CoolWebSearch

Follow the uninstall instructions at http://www.kephyr.com/spywarescanner/library/ncase/index.phtml for ncase

Use Taskmanager (Ctrl-Alt-Del) to end these running processes if you can
    (or use Process Explorer)
    C:\WINNT\wt\updater\wcmdmgr.exe
    C:\PROGRA~1\MYWEBS~1\bar\2.bin\mwsoemon.exe
    C:\winnt\dllhelp.exe
    c:\winnt\msbb.exe

Download and run CWShredder by Merijn Bellekom
Run it, press 'Fix', and allow it to fix all it finds.

Run HijackThis again, push Scan and place a check mark next to the following items using your mouse.
Not all of these entries will still be present - but make sure you get the ones that are.
Next, close all browser Windows, and push the 'Fix checked' button in HijackThis

Empty the TIF (Temporary Internet Files)
To do so use Control Panel > Internet Options(or right click the IE icon on the desktop and choose Properties)
Click Delete Files on the General Tab - place a check in the Delete all offline content box and then press OK

Delete all the files in (and any subfolders of) the C:\Windows\Temp\ folder

Set your Explorer up using the info in this link so that hidden and System files are visible
Also Uncheck the "Hide extensions for known file types" box

    Reboot to SAFE mode
How to start the computer in Safe mode

    Delete the following files:
    c:\winnt\msbb.exe
    C:\WINNT\khklwfqd.exe
    C:\WINNT\bipwn.exe
    C:\WINNT\gtohcjel.exe
    c:\winnt\dllhelp.exe

Run CWShredder again while still in SAFE mode

    Reboot to normal mode

    ------------------
Download the latest version of Ad-Aware at http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/
After installing AAW, and before running the program, you NEED to FIRST update the reference file following these instructions.
    Now do the following:
    - Under Ad-aware 6 > Settings (Gear at the top) > Tweaks > Scanning Engine:
check: "Unload recognized processes during scanning."
    - Under Ad-aware 6 > Settings (Gear at the top) > Tweaks > Cleaning Engine:
Check: "Let Windows remove files in use after reboot."

    Press "Scan Now"
    - Check option "Use Custom scanning options"
    - Check option "Activate In-Depth Scan"
    - Press "Select drives\folders to scan"
    - Select the active partition which is usually C:

Now press "Next" to let Ad-aware scan your drives...
It will find a number of "bad" files and registry keys.
Right-click in that pane and choose "select all"

    Now press "Next" again.
It will ask you whether you'd like to remove all checked items. Click OK.

    Finally, close Ad-Aware, and reboot.

Hey, I did everything you say, and I just wanted to say thank you so incredibly much...it gave me this message when I booted my comp and I wasn't really sure what to do, but I put it to boot in "normal mode" whatever that means....anyway, I believe that everything is fixed and gone and solved....should I leave hijackthis, cwshredder, and adware installed, or delete them. THank you yet again for your much appreciated help.

    Virus free and happy :D :D :D

    Hey Jazzical21,

It will not hurt to hang onto those programs.

As far as CWShredder is concerned....it's mainly a program that is used by the experts when a CoolWebSearch highjack has taken place. While it does get updated from time to time to a newer version....it is not a program designed to be used on a day to day basis by users except maybe in the case of wanting to see if the previous CWS highjack actually went away.

Adaware is a program that you need to keep properly updated and use to scan your system periodically for Spy\Adware.

HighJackThis(HJT) is also another program that is usually only used when problems arise from a browser highjack.

I'm also going to edit the title of the post to reflect problem solved but feel free to re-visit this thread and post IF the problem is not fully gone.
