The description says "mount pVHD backup images to browse their contents and retrieve data both, in the program and directly under Windows OS" I can't view the contents of pvhd files. Neither mount them, not even in the Paragon explorer. Where to find this "New UIM"?
Re: HDM 14 Suite and pVHD files Excuse me. I found. Just need to switch to "show partitions" instead of "show all" combobox
Re: HDM 14 Suite and pVHD files Using HDM 14, was able to mount the pVHD partition as drive M: (my choice) and confirmed drive M: is accessible through Windows Explorer. However, when I re-launch HDM14 (with no-reboot), HDM 14 no longer reports the pVHD partition as "Mounted" even though is clearly is. Documentation states: Archives will only be mounted for the current session and won’t be available after the system restart; -However this does not seem to address the fact HDM 14 no longer shows my pVHD "Mounted"? And, what am I supposed to use this pVHD container for? Documentation suggests for "instant recover". Are .pfi, .pvhd, .p01, .pbe intended to be saved to an alternate physical drive as backup? Is there any practical use for these Paragon Virtual Hard Drive containers to be used within a virtual machine environment such as VMWare ESXi ?
Re: HDM 14 Suite and pVHD files (reference from help menu) What you get by using pVHD: · Incremental imaging works much faster and rock-stable in comparison with the old PBF; · Only pVHD images can be used to do immediate virtualization; *** Please, what does this mean ? How do I use a pVHD with ESXi 5.5 ? · With the new backup technology, available for customers as a new backup image format pVHD, Paragon has also achieved easy support of any virtual containers (VMDK, VHD, etc.). *** Again, please, someone explain what exactly does this mean? I am confused about how to use Paragon with ESXi 5.5 ?
Re: HDM 14 Suite and pVHD files Try send your questions directly to Paragon tech support. Maybe they will tell you.
Re: HDM 14 Suite and pVHD files How did you do that? . I tried as you suggested. No option to mount or explore that I can see. Perhaps a problem with the drivers. EDIT - Works now, thanks. Had to repair the paragon installation.
Re: HDM 14 Suite and pVHD files BTW, one pvhd image can include the most insane set of partitions from different HDD. AND.. (in HDM14Pro) .. 1. You can mount images of entire disks, with all its partitions (pbf - only partition images). 2. Images can be mounted with a permission to full range of editing operations (pbf - read only).
Re: HDM 14 Suite and pVHD files Gah, thx for this; the UI could use some polish, especially w/ the PVHD functionality. gpk
