Hello - I am trying to set up the Nod 32 SMTP email notifications, and can't seem to get it to work.

In the SMTP Serer, I put: smtp.mail.yahoo.com

In the sender address and send warnings to, I put: xxxx@yahoo.com

In the user name, i put: xxxx@yahoo.com

In the password, I put my yahoo password.

But I never receive the test email. Does anyone have a suggestion? Thank you.

What if you just put xxxx for the username?

Also I believe you need to use SSL to access the smtp/pop3 for yahoo.

I haven't used Yahoo for 1 1/2 but as far as I can remember ,the free Yahoo.com (USA) didn't support POP3/SMTP access to the (note) free mail.
    You should check this.

Something else I note is that your username shouldn't be with @yahoo.com , just the name . You whole email (sender email must contain @yahoo.com) but not the username.

Thanks for your replies. I tried you suggestions, but it still does not work. Since it appears that it is a problem with Yahoo, does anyone have a suggestion on how I can work this out? Are there other free email programs that the notification would work witih? Thanks.

NOD32 using just simple SMTP command's to connect to SMTP server and send mails. Thus you can check this manually. For example, telnet to port 25 or your SMTP server and try to send e-mail via command line.

    Regards.

Thanks for your reply, but it is way over my head. I'm not really sure what you are suggesting.

    Hi

nice MS page, I hope this will help :).
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/153119

A little bit of googling brings us this (from Yahoo help)
    ******
Outgoing (SMTP) Server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com (Use SSL, port: 465, use authentication)
    ******

When NOD32 connect to smtp.mail.yahoo.com, send ehlo command followed by MAIL FROM command -> authentification is required.
I'm not sure if there is any possibility to set NOD32 to send smtp mails using account like this....
Further info about Yahoo accounts are here

    Cheers.

Thanks for you help, but I can't get it to work, I tried it with AIM mail, with my work email, as well as Yahoo's, and the test message was never received. Kind of frustrating.

NOD32 does not send notifications through secured SMTP servers.

Thank you again for your responses.

Does anyone know of any free email systems that this would work with?
