    Same problem on XP.

    eset.JPG

The ONLY thing you can do is to start in safe mode and delete ESET folder in Program Files. After that run some reg. cleaner.(you will have to reset Security Center too ...:isay: )

Yes, i deleted the startup entries, and the program folder at startup, because the error report of vista was using cpu a lot,
    Here's detailed information of error:
Aplicativo com falha ekrn.exe, versão 3.0.137.0, carimbo de data/hora 0x46803d01, módulo com falha unknown, versão 0.0.0.0, carimbo de data/hora 0x00000000, código de exceção 0xc0000005, deslocamento com falha 0x002a224c, identificação do processo 0xb88, hora de início do aplicativo 0x01c7bd8113692918.
Now how do i delete the eset service?

I can reboot (in Vista), but I just get the error prompt at every startup without being able to make it go away.

Had to uninstall ESET Smart Security.

Will not uninstall in Safe Mode.

First set Eset Service to Disabled
can not stop service while running.

    Reboot.
make sure no ESET components are running.

Uninstall by way of Add and Remove Programs
go into regedit and remove ESET branch from both
    HKCU software ESET
    HKLM software ESET

    reboot

    then install 1b
    works then
of course all settings are gone

    but it works

Same here happened to me today. This morning when I turned on the computer everything was fine, but after I got back from work, ESS crashed at Windows startup. My version of ESS is the latest b1, I'm with windows XP sp2 with all the latest service packs. The "Don't Send" Window keeps popping up if I try to close it by clicking the Don't Send button, and if I leave it and don't press nothing they keep popping after every 5-10min. then right after I close them all a small window comes up sayng: Error connecting to kernel(actually this came up only twice or three times). Here is my screenshot:

    http://img337.imageshack.us/img337/3503/esetbug2rb6.th.jpg

I've installed the b1 version a few days ago without first uninstalling the older a2(or which one was before b1). So guys, please try to mention if you have uninstalled the older ESS version before installing b1. Maybe this has something to do with it. I will try to reinstall the b1 now and see what will happen.

    One option....

I'm not sure if it'll help anyone else, but with XP, I found that in order to keep the system from crashing (over and over and over again, even after "clicking OK to terminate the program"), I went into my Program Files folder, then the Eset folder, then the Eset Smart Security folder, found "ekrn.exe" and MOVED the file to my desktop. As soon as I did that, I "clicked OK to terminate the program" and the error message stopped.

What to do after? Not so sure, but I can tell you this. I've got it up and running, but only after I uninstalled it, rebooted, reinstalled it without rebooting (it doesn't usually require a reboot after installation anyway), then changed my settings and updated manually (from within the GUI).

It's only a temporary fix, mind you, as the program "is" running and "is" updated; however, the trick is that I have to keep the computer running, too. Any restart will require the "trick" all over again.

(I understand it's beta, but how this update got out without a little better alpha testing is beyond me. It's a simple reboot, for goodness' sake. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that one out.)

    ---------

    UPDATE:

It does seem that installing the original program WITHOUT updating does allow for a restart. (Just a thought, in case you might want to do one fresh install and wait until a fix is released.)

    ---------

    UPDATE 2:

Ok, I'm only half correct. It seems in my first update, the aforementioned process did work. However, when trying it on my second computer, I imported my settings (.xml file) before rebooting, and had the kernel problem on the next startup.

    ---------

    UPDATE 3:

It looks like the problem (between my first 2 updates) may be a registry problem. On my first computer, before my fresh installation, I cleaned my registry. Update #1 occurred as listed.

On my second computer, I did NOT clean my registry before the fresh installation. Thus the reason for Update #2.

My above trick "may" only work if the registry has been cleaned prior to a fresh installation. This may or may not work with your particular computer. You are free to give it a shot.

    Exactly the same here !!!

I'm posting this after I uninstall ESET, and I'll try to reinstall it now.

I agree that this must be issue with ESET and best is to wait for official opinion about that !

Disable Eset Service from Control Panel -> Administrative tools -> Services , reboot

    1. Download fresh new ESS from http://download1.eset.com/special/essbeta1b/ess_nt32_enu.msi
    1. Uninstall your current version from Control Panel -> Add/Remove programs
    2. Reboot the computer when prompted
    3. Delete manually
    - C:\Program files\ESET
    - C:\Documents and Settings\All users\Application data\Eset

    4. Install again ESS beta . Use Typical install and keep essbeta for username/password

    Does this help ?

I can read even if you write it this way
Sorry, but I think this Fixes must be official !!! :cautious:

Extra tension is completely unnecessary , I am sure Eset are aware of the problem and will fix it as soon as possible . Remember that you agreed with all the things (pluses and minuses) to use this BETA so you cannot complain! :isay:
