Slow Web browsing

    Only installed ESS 4.2.40 (XP SP3) a day or so ago, and now notice incredibly slow Web browsing. I hear repeated disk activity with each page that's loading. I tried unchecking the startup scan that takes place after an update, but that didn't help at all.
