    Hello!
From couple of days my Windows shuts down terribly slow. :(

I"ve cleaned my cache and all temp files with CCleaner, than made a full Defragment of my Windows drive but no result. I"ve downloaded a little reg key to enable fast shut down from here:http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm but it didn't work

Any suggestions how to make my PC shut down like usual...fast?
I don' want to format and install Windows again.

If you really want to shut down your computer fast, there is a program named:
Super FAst Shut Down that really does what is says.
I use it sometimes, but however I can't guarentee that it won't do any harm to your harddisk. (Nothing bad seems to have happened to my drive so far).

Can be tested from this site:

    Regards /Don

if there's no malware it could be a software conflict. you can try manually shutting programs 1 or 2 at a time then rebooting to see if your shutdown speeds up, if it does you know it's the program you manually closed. i'd try closing my AV and other security programs first.

if it is some kind of driver conflict i'm fairly sure you can use SafeXP or XP antispy to instantly shutdown a program which isn't responding.

    here are some links

you could try a Verbose Shutdown which should show what's happening as it happens, but i've never used it with windows

if you've made any changes to your PC recently, or installed something new, then that might be causing the problem.

here's a nice program to help improve Event Viewer which should help you.
