It is dangerous to do so? On my vista machine I changed the Temp folder to write but when I do so vista warns me for a lack security .

    Should I be worried?

The scan hangs if I don't do this on vista.

In the FAQ i found that ESET adviced to do this to the temp folder so the scan speed would be normal.

I am just wondering if there is any security risk to do so.

It's a permission issue only if you're getting "Decompression could not be performed" or something to this effect in the scan logs. That would happen because you or the system does not have permissions to write into the temp folder. Otherwise there's no need to fiddle around permissions for the temp folder. Anyways, the quickest way to set appropriate permissions would be by deleting the temp folder and recreating it from scratch.
