    Hi lostincyberspace,

    Welcome at Wilders. :)

Could you tell us what exactly takes longer then it should? The opening of the fkirst IE window or the loading of the websites?

I see a few minor things but nothing that should have a noticeable influence on your speed.

    Regards,

    Pieter

    Hi lostincyberspace,

If it is only the first IE window that could mean one of the BHO's is corrupted or looking for something that isn't there anymore.

Check the following items in HijackThis.
Close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime

    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Microsoft Works Update Detection] c:\Program Files\Microsoft Works\WkDetect.exe

    O16 - DPF: {A031D222-B496-11D2-9CC8-00105A10AAF6} (WONWebLauncher Class) - http://hoylegames.sierra.com/cab/WONWebLauncherControl.cab
    O16 - DPF: {B942A249-D1E7-4C11-98AE-FCB76B08747F} (RealArcadeRdxIE Class) - http://games-dl.real.com/gameconsole/Bundler/CAB/RealArcadeRdxIE.cab

Then reboot. That might help, but I don't expect it to.
It should speed things up a bit, though.

If it doesn't cure the problem, download BHODemon from:
    http://www.definitivesolutions.com/bhodemon.htm
and use it to disable the BHO´s one by one.

Let us know if and which one makes a big difference.

    Regards,

    Pieter

The first one (O16) is the Genealogy Browser. If you don't use that, you can fix it.
The same applies to the IE internet radio (O3).
If you never use it you can have HijackThis fix that one as well.

    Regards,

    Pieter
