A few discussions on the Hair's Lair board led to the idea of launching a Security Site of the Year award . So, a topic on that site was created and now the nomination period has begun.

Registered :) members can nominate sites and vote later on. Please, check your favorite links lists and help making it a representative election.

Nice idea - in principle. However, having to register in order to nominate is too much of a restriction. Firstly, I don't want to register with a site I'll hardly ever visit (no offense: Wilders is my home, whenever I can afford the time to visit my family here) and, secondly, it goes against the grain for a security site to disallow anonymity.

Personally, I think The Register or a similar journalistic site would be a better, more independant place to host the nominations and votes (and the dreaded acceptance speeches!) for this.

Do I get change from these two cents?

Is this award for the site or software? All i see is people nominating the software (e.g AVG, Spybot, javacool products, coolshredder, etc) .

If it's for sites, do forums qualify like spywareinfo forums?

great product does NOT equal great site.

I would agree that wilders is very informative and I am glad that I was able to register as a member. It is nice to belong to a forum that actually believes in what they are doing and helping less knowledgable people figure out problems that otherwise they might not be able to handle alone. Keep up the good work and I will try to be as helpful as the rest of you are.
