Perhaps this is just a silly question. But after I installed SWB & enabled all the protections, it says I can 'click the X' and it will still be working.

But there is no icon in any tray & nothing listed in my startup control lists. So how do I know I did it right * that I am now better protected.

Spywareblaster installs kill bits in the registry to prevent active x spyware from being installed at all. once you start protection you are protected although spywareblaster doesn't start with windows or run in the back ground. All you need to do is update it at least once a week. ;)

That's right. As BigC says there is no need to leave it running.

Now, if you actually want to verify that the protections are "really still there". There is a way...

Just run SpywareBlaster one more time and you'll notice it rechecks its protections (ie. the progress bar / meter moving to the right as it opens up). When it's done, if the lines on the right under SpywareBlaster Protection show: "0 items have protection disabled..." then it successfully confirmed you are protected. (Basically it checks up on itself every time you open it up.)
