Signal challenges Grand jury subpoena for user data

    This news item appears to have attracted surprisingly little attention .
    Perhaps it's because of the two separate high-profile stories regarding the very questionable behavior of Yahoo over the past few years .

    They have posted court documents from both parties , and have so far apparently fought off both the demand
    for user details ( even though they don't have them ) , and a subsequent gag order ( hence the documents on the website ) .

    I think this has a bearing on many topics here relating to various VPN and secure email services , and their stated
    logging policies , warrant canaries etc .
