Hi to clean motherboard , or other electronic parts should i use a intentic or natural brush ? I want to clean a wonderful Pioneer A-88X I had some canned air units , some contact cleaner dry and wet (in short i don't how translate but it does leave some oil for the pots "knobs" ) and some brushes can i ask you 2 questions? 1) should i use some contact cleaner wet for the pots like volume , treble ,bass ? i have read the contact cleaner dry will remove all the grease that let move the knobs very smooth 2) what kind of brush should i use to remove dust? a sintentic or natural brush ? thanks
So you mean "synthetic"? I generally recommend natural animal (like boar) hair because it tends to create less static. That said, some synthetic bristles are static free. As long as it says electrical contact cleaner, it should be fine. I recommend using CRC QD Electronic Cleaner or WD-40 Electrical Contact Cleaner. Typically, the power from the spray is enough for most cleaning jobs. But if the dirt is stubborn, I spray it with the contact cleaner then give it a soft scrub with a acid brush. Then spray it again to let the dirt and grime drip away, or dry it with a gentle rub with a soft, cotton cloth.
information only https://funk-shop.de/70_kontaktchemie/70_k60_k61_kwl.htm kontakt WL is for cleaning, kontakt 61 is for lower medium contact issues, kontakt 60 for heavy contact issues (i owe a bottle) i would prefer kontakt chemie instead wd40. (i only know about wd40 multi use which is similar to turpentine and thats a lot aggressive) NEVER try/use brake cleaner!
Brake cleaner?? I have never heard of anyone suggesting brake cleaner on electronics. As for "WD 40", I note that is just a brand name. They sell may different products under that name. So lease note the one I showed is specifically for "sensitive electrical parts" - as it clearly says on the can.
well, one of our customers sprayed it into the electronic parts of siemens and spoke: "it worked". now the parts are dead and the whole controle center need a change. brake cleaner is able to clean electrical boards, but it damages electrical parts like C's and more. just a warning. ear tips are recommeded. when i clean switches or similar small parts i use ear tips with kontakt 60 to remove oxygenized parts. for my care radio there was no chance to open the silence/louder knob so i just sprayed it into - and it worked. that knob is only a rotatable switch knob, knobs with cole (analog potentiometer) will be dead, the only solution will be a new one. such knobs will be destroyed with any kind of spray.
Well, personally, I think it would be stupid to even consider brake cleaner. Brakes are exposed to all sorts of weather and road contaminates a computer would never see. It seems to me, if someone thought using brake cleaner was a good idea, they are the type that would think tossing gasoline on a camp fire to get it going would be a good idea too. In other words, they would be good candidates for the Darwin Award. I am assuming by "ear tips", you mean cotton swabs or Q-Tips. Other than the fact they typically leave fibers behind, yes, they are adequate for such cleaning. Of course, I remember, as a 6-year old kid with an ear ache my doctor telling me, "never put anything smaller than your elbow in your ear!". So again, not sure these would be the best choice. Instead, I recommend one of those contact cleaners and if the force of the spray is not adequate, instead of a cotton swap, try a good natural fiber brush like a acid brush instead.
True but you shouldn't have to tell people not to use a hair dryer while sleeping or that food may be hot after heating either. Or that you can't charge your iPhone in the microwave. Unfortunately the warnings exist because some people will do such things. If you've seen it happen (he said he did) it's fair to warn others. If you're standing too close they might take you with them...
Hi Bill_Bright well I own some CRC Electronic cleaner , but it does dry a lot everything they have suggested me Perfects Contact cleaner or DeoxIT Spray Contact Cleaner about acid brush , are the brushes included with some type of glue or coloring hair kit? are they Anti Static Brushes ? about "gentle rub with a soft, cotton cloth." could be an idea ,but some parts are hard to clean ,very tiny space between them thanks
well, for me i can handle ear tips with cotton, but there also exist very similar cleaning tips with leather, originally made for analog video recorders to avoid fibers on the head (which has a lot of rills and edges). and those are smoother then cotton, but for cleaning a motherboard without much scratching it will work. or a medium tooth brush, or brush as you mentioned. for brake cleaner - "stupid" was the proper definition of one of our engineers ^^
"It does dry a lot everything" - I don't know what that means. Perfects contact cleaner does NOT say, "electrical contact" cleaner. I would not use it on electronics. This Perfects cleaner does say electrical contacts. DeoxIT has several different types of cleaning sprays. You need to be very careful to be sure you get one specifically for electronic contacts. I don't know. You will have to research that yourself. No brush type is fully anti-static but the acid brushes I linked to use boar hair - a "natural" hair bristle that, for sure, is less prone to static build up than most all synthetic bristles.
Hi Bill it means CRC Electronic cleaner does remove any grease used for any mechanism ,and power buttons , and knobs (the have some grease to be lube maybe silicone grease or vaseline grease for they told me , it 's pretty good for knobs and other parts like pots and mechanism thanks
Ah, that's true. Thanks for clarifying. Well, I don't know who "they" are. I am only going by the company's own description of their own products. I choose to believe the company and therefore, agree with Brummelchen and would "never" use it on electronics.
