in that case, GesWall wuld probly be easier, u can make GesWall create ZERO popups and its more overall protection, where as i see sandboxie more as just for your browser IMO.

    Hi,
i dont know GesWall but i think that there is nothing confusing about sandboxie. You said that it only makes sense for safer browsing but where do you get your malware from? Browsing?
I am using sandboxie for a while now and can only advise you to have a look at it.

    Agree.

So if you are considering a paid for Sandbox, IMHO/IME, Defensewall is much more newbie friendly and gives top-notch protection straight out of the box with no pop-ups. GW and Sandboxie you might have to tighten a few settings after the initial install.

Further, if she is on Vista, then I would definitely recommend DW or Sandboxie over Geswall.

If you do not want to pay, Sandboxie may be the best choice for the average user.

But overall, give her the trial versions to play with and see which one she prefers.

Does DW slow down your browser on a cold load up? In other words how many seconds does your browser take to load in DW? SBie and MY FF takes 27 seconds to load together. Aargh

You can't go wrong with any of these, DW, GW or SBIE.

Mostly a hybrid. Policy Sandbox and hips. You get the best of two worlds. I don't use it myself only because I'm comfortable with SBIE and Avira. But I did try it at onetime and liked it.

the free version of geswall does not terminates apps in real time, only like if you reboot then it will be just find if you ever get infected with a reboot and a virus scan should be just find:D
with defensewall can terminates malware in real time, one process or all processess at same time with the red bottom close attack and do not need to reboot

After reboot, clicked on FF icon and it took 12 seconds to get FF up and running. Coupled with DW and SBIE, this also includes Ad muncher, Browser Sentinel and Prevx Edge all running realtime. I'd say no unreasonable slowdown.

I don't see too many comments about Geswell. I accessed their web site, and it appears to be a good app to protect your browser, e-mail, etc. Has anyone traded SBie in for Geswell? Is Geswell easy on resources? I am using SBie and am wondering if Geswell is as good, although different. I could install it on a different snapshot to try it, but there's nothing like input from folks who are using it. I think I'm still on topic... :)
