My internet service will be changing, so that the router will be on the other side of a wall and out of my control. That's fine, but would that affect my using a VPN? Thank you.
No it won't, unless the vpn is on the router. But if it's an app in your computer it won't matter where the router is, because your connection will go through a software adapter on your system and then to the router.
Nord in a box? What's in a box mean? Like you literally bought a physical copy somewhere? The interesting thing is that you bought the one VPN that cannot be used on a router, as the protocol they use is proprietary. Well, you good use openvpn, but that's much slower.
Connect the WAN port on your VPN router to one of the LAN ports on your ISPs router. If they're configuring your router, you can ask them to disable wifi on it so you get wifi only through the router you control. I had to do that for an industrial internet connection for security reasons. The internet connection is just for the cloud backend to monitor a control system and restricting access to cabled connections is part of the security.
Wow... First let me throw this in: the router will connect to my machines through a wall by cable. This is necessary since one of my computers (Gigabyte desktop for audio recording) does not have WI-FI on the motherboard. Does that affect the situation? Yes, I bought a box. What you get is a printed code, so as to download NORD, which I have not done yet.
