I don't think we can wait any longer, after all this time with absolutely no communication from Tony (on this forum or any other) and all the weird stuff that's happened around it it's maybe best to let it go. People may still have some degree of confidence in the old software but there is no support for it now which is a very important aspect in any security software. The new version and the new blog that sprang up does not inspire any confidence whatsoever, I have tried to communicate there on numerous occasions without success.

And thanks Patrick for all the work that you've done, both at the SD forum while SD was actively supported and since then, trying to get to the truth. :thumb:

I can only suspect that the account has been suspended due to malpractice by whoever highjacked the SD domain. It's a sad end to it all.

Patrick, is there no chance whatsoever for someone to try and reverse-engineer the code? I know that there are obvious legal issues, but then again we can safely assume that SD is abandoware by now; and since noone seems to be claiming the code so far, what's to stop the community from stepping in? I'm sure that there must be loads of decent freeware coders out there who would have loved the challenge of developing a brand new up-to-date product inspired by Tony's code. I think this would be the best homage to Tony after all.

The suspension was probably due to either the hosting account hadn't been paid on time or the bandwidth had exceeded its set limit.

Exactly, until that is answered we will never really have faith in any 'new' versions.

The Shadow Defender forum is up again with no communication between the owner and me and I seem to be still global mod there. All very peculiar, I'm already deleting spam.

It seems that although the Shadow Defender forum is now running , parts of it are still not working, Tony has not replied to any of my pms (they remain unread). I'm not sure what is happening really.

someone paid to get that site back up and that is what would worry me. TonyCN is a member here and until he posts that all is ok, I would avoid it totally. Also, who created this new version,

    2011.3.31
    Version 1.1.0.331 is released.

because it wasnt Tony in March of 2011.

Like I said, I know and really like the guy but would not go near there at this point.

Yes you are right I have put this warning on Shadow Defender forum

"New users please be careful, although the site is up and running to some degree we have still had no communication from Tony and I cannot guarantee that this site is not hacked. Patrick (moderator)

please see topic below on all forums

"All potential new members Please do not register on the Shadow Defender forum if you are not going to post something meaningful or answer an existing post in the first instance as I will ban any new members from this point 20 Jan 2011 (updated 16 August 2011) that do not post when they register. I do not want any new "sitting" members because of dealing with "sitting" spammers."

Thanks Chris...it's a good info but I still don't know who hides behind this "cat and mouse game". It's like some "abracadabra". I can only hope that Tony will back soon...
And next...Norton Safe Web scan - site is safe, the same F-Secure Browsing Protection...
