Every now and then, SD gives me a pop-up from the task-bar, saying "Shadow Defender is Committing Changes. Please Wait"
I have no idea what it could be committing, and it is worrying.

    Anyone help please?

Not sure but may be able to answer my own question.

Is it possible that SD is committing the Exclusions at this time. I have never seen it notifying like this before, and I have been using it for at least 2 years.

Or maybe it is something else. Any help appreciated.

    Hi Kennyboy!!

Your right,I have used ShadowDefender for a pretty good while, and I have never seen anything like this.

My gut tells me it has nothing to do with excluded folders,as they seem to simply bypass the system, without any delay.

Of course I suppose it could be committed content, but as far as I know this is always the result of a conscience action on the part of the user to commit a file(s) via right click from shell integration,or from the GUI.

I know Returnil has a means of committing the entire last session to the real disk, but this commitment occurs only at shutdown.

We may both be looking over something obvious, but I just don't get it ether.

ps# I more or less stopped updating at version 1.1.0.323.
Maybe latter versions have changed something.

Have you posted this on the SD forum?
Also, you could contact their support and find out.
I've not seen this activity either.

    Thanks for your replies guys.

I did search the SD Forum to see if anyone had seen it before, but couldn't find anything. Thought I would post here first as I know many Wilders members use SD.
May be time to join SD Forum.

Kennyboy,I agree joining the forum is a good idea, but things there are a bit slow at the moment,as it is really not that old a forum, and Tony the developer does not have a chance to get there that often.

You may get quicker response via email:support@shadowdefender.com

The fact ShadowDefender seems somehow to be committing something you did not initiate,is pretty worrisome.

At least it is something to find out about as quickly as possible.

    good luck,
    rat

    Hi rat.

    Thanks again for your input.

I have posted on the forum, and emailed Tony also.

I have now seen the pop-up 5 times in total, and at no particular time, so I have no idea what it is all about.

I will report back here when I get a reply.

    Thanks again.

Seems that SD displays this pop-up when you move a largish file from the protected zone to a zone that is excluded. No cause for concern.

    Problem Solved. Thanks to all.
