Shadow Defender Forum down.

I was trying to get on Shadow Defender's forum, but it looks like it is down. Can someone else confirm this? I usually don't have any DNS problems.

 

It's not you. Forum is unreachable.

I hope they are just down for maintenance. I was just bored, so I was going to check to see if there was any news on Tony.

Yes the Shadow Defender forum is down and now will probably be down for good. Everyday we were getting more and more spam to the point that it was getting difficult to handle using the tools that we have as mods, which are, ban members, remove posts, ban ips and usernames etc. A mod without the admin does not have the "permissions" to remove membership (I used to send Tony a list of members to remove each week).
Recently we were getting lots of porn links and were under multiple concerted attack swarming the forum and the spammers started leaving child porn photos and references on the forum whilst Hawkwind or myself were asleep so I decided to use a ban list. The ban lists was very large and so I applied it in "chunks".
What I didn't know is that there is a bug in phpbb that chokes on files over a certain size and the forum then (when you try to access it) returns a white page. So the result of all this is I am locked out of the forum and can't do anything about it because there is no real admin to deal with it and I have no "physical" admin access. My apologies go to everyone that can't access the forum.

what happend to Admin??

 

Tony has been missing for some time and all attempts to contact him have failed. I still have pms to him in the Shadow Defender pm box from months ago that have never been answered. The domain expires in April.

It wouldn't cost much.

 

Yes it's hard to run the forum if there are no Admins to do the fixing of the board and so on!

This is definitely a good idea. Holding down the domain for one more year until Tony hopefully returns. My guess if it is lost the potential for misuse is very high where it could be bought up by some other phonie company like the Phantom Armor crappy copycat product.

What is happening ... as if any copyright theft .... who is who ... there is stealing something happens to them ... and the latest revision of the program was almost a year ago

 

Find out how much it will cost to renew the domain, and maybe some of us can make some contributions. We have nothing, but love for SD here! Just post the amount in this thread. I don't believe that is against the forum rules since i'm asking, and it would not be considered spam then.
