If you still haven't, I'd advice you to take a look at these threads.

    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?&t=278657

There will be some overlap, and you may consider it a bit annoying to read them, but I can assure that, in the end, you'll think This was worth reading.. ;)

I could say this or that, but reading these threads will say all I wanted to say, so there's no reason to go over it again. ;)

    thanks guys
I have been thinking about a image tool for emergency's so may have a look at Keriver.
forgot to add Safe Online so edited OP.
Is Spyshelter a good replacement for Prevx SO?

    have you used Oops before?
It works fine for me. I not tested to see if it restores fine but so far it has been backing up fine and allows me to choose diff versions of changed files.

To create the image takes about 12 minutes.
To restore the image takes about 8 minutes.
On image compression, a 20GB hard drive goes to 5GB in the image.

Already restored more than 60 times and never had a problem.

    that sounds good.
I think i will try that for my Windows partition and then keep Ooops for my personal files.

been curious about Returinal SS as I got a free version of SS Pro from TrialPay.
Snapshot program would be good but i dont want to risk any MBR issues.

The Keriver 1-Click Restore is a program much more image than a snapshot. :)

You could add SUMo or Secunia.

My advice to you is make your set-up as light as possible. If I were you I would:

    1) Replace Chrome 12 with IE9 with respect to malware protection with smartscreen.

    2) I would get rid of Prevx Safe Online, Noscript since you are running KIS2012 those are not needed. Beside KIS already covered those grounds for you.

    3) Why oops backup since Windows 7 already comes loaded with its own back up utility where you will be able to create your image as well as your boot-up disk.

Final advice don't suffocate your computer and please give it time to breathe. The lighter your setup the better your RAM will become. Sorry I made that up. :D.

    Thanks.

I use oops as it auto backs up new files and lets me go back in time for older version of files if they change. W7 does not let you do that and is just a basic image creation tool. :)

I was under the impression for KIS to do Prevx SO job, you need to run in safe run mode and I forget to actually use the sandbox feature of KIS or SBIE most of the time.

when using Backup and Restore in Windows 7 you have the option of creating an image if you want to.

the Backup is a different feature than the Imaging utility.
Backup will only save the folders and files you specify.
you can create scheduled backups using Windows 7.

I would like to use the image of W7, but not working here no way!

But in the end, the Keriver 1-Click Restore is much simpler to use, requires no CD or anything.

Windows Backup and Restore does not require a CD either. Press F8 when booting and choose Repair Your Computer.

    malexous is correct.
it's a little known feature that more people should know about.

from the desktop, you can even schedule to restore an image that will be carried out during the next reboot:
Backup and Restore/Recover system settings or your computer/Advanced recovery methods/Use a system image...

how fast is windows backup to backup data?
I just looked at backing up a system image inc my windows partition and the total used space is 128GB and the image will be 124GB.
Or does it backup the unused space too?

Windows 7 imaging does not store empty space.
i don't think it stores the hibernation or page file either.
it will reduce/compress the data by a 1/4 or 1/3, depending on the type of data...
