Hello, I have been using privatefirewall for a bit since I gave up on Comodo ISP. It seems to work well but I am having some configuration issues. At the moment, I have AVG antivirus free installed and am frustrated by all the connections its various components are making. I try to run a system were all internet access is whitelist. The AV software should connect to its host IP for database updates and to do online scanning, but not for much of anything else. The private firewall log lists constant connections from the AVGSvc.exe service component to IP addresses all over the place. In the last 10 minutes, I have connection attempts to, 63.130.164.91 Akamai Technologies CW-AKAMAI-NET 66.225.197.197 vip1.UE-anycast1.cachefly.net 68.87.20.9 pop3-ch2.sys.comcast.net 72.167.239.237 GO-DADDY-COM-LLC a1plpkivs-v01.any.prod.ash1.secureserver.net 93.184.220.29 EdgeCast NetBlk, not clear who this is 104.16.94.121 CLOUDFLARENET 172.217.20.78 GOOGLE 209.170.115.40 a209-170-115-40.deploy.static.akamaitechnologies.com The 72.167.239.237 IP address seems to be the host for AVG. Appearently all outgoing email requests are routed through the AVGSvc.exe service, so that explains the comcast connection. The rest really don't make any sense. I have rules set up to allow for connections to some things, but according to the private firewall logs, the AVGSvc.exe service is making connections to other IP addresses that do not have rules set up to all them. Can anyone let me know how to configure privatefirewall to allow only connections to the IP address that I have whitelisted for a specific application? Do I need to include some kind of global deny rule listed after the allowed IP rules? Thanks, LMHmedchem
